scarf sconces
What are scarf sconces? When and how can scarf sconces be used? Why would you want to go for scarf sconces? First of all what is a scarf? A flowing fabric that is swagged or looped across the top of the window with free falling panels down the sides. You may use a single scarf or several scarves in either a symmetrical or an asymmetrical design, using a wooden or metal pole and sconces or scarf rings. That means that scarf sconces are decorative hardware devices used to hold scarves. Scarf sconces are usually made of metal, wood, plastic or plaster.

As the definition of scarves above implies, there are more ways and possibilities of using fabric to give your home windows and, implicitly, yourself a treat. Just as with the candleholder sconces, scarves and curtains can be used for both aesthetic and practical purposes. Besides the beautifying effect, scarves and curtains can also protect your home from extreme heat and sunshine and, until the repairs or redecorating can be done, they can also hide cracks in the wall where that particular window is, or cracks in the paint on the window panes.

You can use scarf sconces or cornices together with rods simple or double, to achieve the desired effects and accents. With scarf sconces attached to the ends of the rods you will be able to hold scarves and hide the ends of the rods or the parts where they are attached to the walls. The scarf sconces are typically mounted just outside the windows. Scarves are threaded through the wholes within the scarf sconces and then draped decoratively to please the eye.

Besides scarf sconces there are many other devices and ways of doing your scarves and curtains. You could use a cafe rod, which is small, round decorative rod; this usually comes in white, brass or woodgrain finish; cafe rods are supposed to be seen and add a decorative touch to the curtain treatment and they are used to mount cafe curtains which do not have rod pockets. Then you can use combination rods, continental rods, or conventional rods. If you do not want to use scarf sconces you can also choose to decorate the curtain area with the end brackets and finials. The finials like scarf sconces, have a decorative purpose; just that unlike the scarf sconces, which actually interact with the scarves, the finials are meant to be fixed at the end of the poles and rods.
