Is a mem­ory foam pil­low in a bassinette okay for the baby?

Or should I use the reg­u­lar mat­tress pad? Do babies need a kind of hard sur­face to sleep on? The mem­ory foam is pretty firm.

I will con­cur with the major­ity above and say it is very dan­ger­ous for your baby to sleep on a mem­ory foam mat­tress pad. First of all it’s not shaped cor­rectly for the bassinette and the baby could get his/her face wedged between the mat­tress and the side and suf­fo­cate. He/she can also smother in it because it would con­form to the nose and mouth if the head were turned into the mattress.

Babies are sup­posed to sleep on the hard sur­face. It’s uncom­fort­able for us but it is safer for them.

There are sleep posi­tion­ers that have lit­tle pil­lows for baby’s head but those are also start­ing to get a big thumbs down for safety.
